Vacations in the Green Heart of Italy

Travel Help

  • Booking flights

We recommend that you fly into the Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, which is about 20 miles southwest of Rome. From there you can take a bus or train to Perugia. The small airport in Perugia only offers direct flights to and from Milan.

Kayak is a great tool for finding and comparing flights. British Airways, Lufthansa and Air France are among the best. You can expect to pay a oversize charge for your bike on your outbound flight, but usually not when returning.

  • Transportation to and from the airport

Perugia is about 130 miles northeast of Fiumicino. The Sulga bus line is the easiest way to travel; it goes directly from the airport in Fuimicino to Perugia. You can slide your bike box in the main luggage compartment (lay it on its side so that it doesn't fall over!).

You can also take the train with Trenitalia. Enter “Fiumicino Aeroporto” for Leaving from? and “Perugia” for Going to?. Note that this requires a transfer at the main station in Rome, which can be a hassle if you have a lot of luggage. We can also arrange for transportation for you by private car/van for an additional cost, please contact us a week before your arrival to make the necessary arrangements; include your arrival and departure times and locations.

  • Transportation to and from Perugia

We offer a free arrival and departure shuttle service between Perugia and Casale I Perugini. Our shuttle will go to any of the train or bus stations in Perugia, as well as the local airport. Please contact us a week before your arrival to make the necessary arrangements; include your arrival and departure times and locations.

  • Car rental

If you'd like a little more independence, we recommend renting a car. Sixt is the most economical, but Hertz also operates in Italy. Both are at the Fiumicino airport and the main train station in Perugia. Keep in mind that the cars tend to be smaller.

  • Travel insurance

Travel insurance can give you peace of mind in the event of cancellations, delays, or lost baggage. Visit InsureMyTrip.com for package comparisons and quotes.

  • Extending your stay

If you are continuing your vacation throughout Italy, you are welcome to leave your bike with us until you complete your travels. We will be glad to give you information about interesting destinations and transportation arrangements. If you'd like to stay longer at Casale I Perugini, please contact us for availability and rates.
